The Mini Cooper tuning packages have been used for circuit racing since 1961 and are still raced today. One of the results of that racing spirit is the Mini Cooper “S” type. All you have to do is search the web and you will find hundreds of Mini Cooper performance parts.
The big question is – What can I do to make my Mini faster? Easy. Here are some of the quickest ways of performance tuning your Mini Cooper. Start with the intake system. A free flow racing filter kit can be bought from any number of companies. The way it works is by lowering the restriction on the flow of air into the supercharger. The less restricted the air, the more the supercharger can compress it into the engine. This should pick up an extra 10-12H.P. on the Dyna Flow. While we are talking about the supercharger, why not change the pulley ratio? A smaller pulley increases the R.P.M. of the supercharger. This could get you another 20H.P. These Mini Cooper performance parts will not drain your wallet either. It will cost you about $200(U.S.), plus labor, to get both of these on your car. For adding 32H.P. to your little dynamo that is a steal. Be careful though, the extra airflow on intake will increase the back pressure and engine heat if do not modify your exhaust. There are a lot of options that will increase the overall diameter of your Mini Cooper’s exhaust. All of them improve the throaty growl of your car. Never forget the headers. All of these Mini Copper tuning tips can be bought for $1500(U.S.), plus labor. Not bad for an additional 50+ H.P.
Whatever your taste, there are dozens of ways of tuning a Mini Cooper. You have read a few tips on how to improve the intake and exhaust flow. None involved opening the engine. You still have cams, pistons, valves, etc, to look into if you want to exceed 225 H.P. Then there are steering, braking, and handling performance parts for your Mini Cooper. It does not matter what you do, the Mini Cooper is a racing or street rod enthusiasts dream.

Earlier this year we held the first ever Mini Meet North at Mosport International Raceway to commemorate the minis’ 50th Anniversary. It was such a huge success that we that we decided to make this an annual event. VARAC normally honours a featured car every year, this coming year we are celebrating 50 years of racing at Mosport. A full weekend of vintage auto racing and car shows, it’s sure to be a great turn out with lots of media coverage.
Mini Meet North will be the featured event in this festival. Our goal is to have the largest Mini event ever in Canada. It will be a great opportunity for car enthusiasts and their families to share and enjoy their passion for such a great car. We’ve introduced a Mini only section (including trophies/prizes) in the show and shine car show. All the entrants of the car show will be allowed to do a couple parade laps on the Historic Mosport road race track all the Minis will stay on the front straight for a panoramic photo. A road rally has been planned, as well as a dyno to be set up for those who wish to test their cars and find out how much power they really have under their hoods. Plus a bunch of other events that are in works including prizes!
